Blockchain EXPO Spring 2025

Activities

  • Exhibited at the Blockchain EXPO Cardano booth held at Tokyo Big Sight from April 15 to 17, 2025.
  • Created and presented an exhibition panel explaining the features of Hydra as a deliverable of Milestone 1, which focused on Hydra evaluation.
  • Developed and showcased an interactive exhibit, "Smart Gacha," to compare the performance of L1 and L2.

Exhibits

Hydra Experience App & Smart Gacha

  • A demo application designed to let users experience the flow and transaction speed differences between Cardano L1 and Hydra L2.
  • Once a transaction is completed, the Smart Gacha rotates, dispensing a capsule.

Hydra Explanation Panel

  • A panel explaining the overview of Hydra.

Visitor Feedback

  • The off-chain (private chain) specification of Hydra is particularly intriguing.
  • Hydra seems well-suited for privacy-preserving transaction processing, which is often required for B2B use cases.
  • Hydra appears highly applicable for implementation in intra-company payment systems.
  • There is interest in how event log display and log storage functions are handled in L2.
  • While the term "L2" as a blockchain technology was known, this exhibition provided the first introduction to Cardano L2 Hydra as a concrete solution.
  • There is curiosity about how L2 payments are treated under Japan's tax regulations.
  • The interactive Gacha machine has potential as an educational kit for Web3 learning.

Achievements

  • Successfully helped visitors visually and experientially understand the differences between Cardano L1 and Hydra L2.
  • Clearly explained the characteristics and challenges of L2 in "small-amount, high-frequency" micropayment transactions.
  • Demonstrated practical application examples of L2 technology.
  • Collected valuable feedback on potential business use cases.

Challenges and Future Prospects

  • Expanding Hydra use cases:
    • Explore systems that maximize Hydra's functionality based on collected feedback.
    • Validate B2B use cases.
    • Investigate the potential of developing Web3 educational tools.
    • Consider developing a log management system for L2.
  • Improving the stability of interactive demos:
    • Address issues where the demo became inoperable due to wireless environment problems.
